Join us Friday at 9 am for an informative meeting. Coffee and pastries provided. Our office is in the Trestlebridge Office Center, 5250 Lovers Lane in Portage (across from Loy Norrix High School, south of Kilgore Road).
Willa DiTaranto, Kalamazoo County Housing Project Manager, will speak at the KGOP Friday Coffee. She will give an update on the success of the Housing Millage, which voters passed in 2020.
Since its inception, the Housing Millage has achieved significant milestones:
- Over $26 million has been allocated to housing development and supportive services
- Approximately 1400 new housing units have received Housing Millage funding, with over 800 currently occupied, under construction, or breaking ground.
- More than 100 owner-occupied homes have received critical repairs addressing health and safety concerns.

The Housing Department's mission is to lead the development and implementation of Kalamazoo County's housing strategy. We work to ensure that everyone in our community has access to safe, affordable housing.
Our team collaborates with public, private, and nonprofit partners to address key housing needs. Together, we focus on expanding rental assistance programs; building permanent, affordable housing; and providing supportive services to residents.
The Housing Department oversees projects, allocate resources, and drives solutions that make a lasting impact. The efforts include effectively managing housing funds to improve the availability and quality of affordable housing; monitoring housing trends and identifying innovative practices to meet community needs; preparing and managing the budget for housing initiatives; and overseeing the annual housing millage funding application process and recommend allocations to the County Board.
